Fostering Openness in Elections
The El Cerrito Democratic Club is a membership organization open only to registered Democrats that only endorses registered Democrats, but they have set up their endorsement process to be beneficial to a wider audience as part of their commitment to openness and an informed electorate.
- Non-members of all political stripes are welcome and have full participation rights to listen and write up questions for candidates. They just can’t vote on the endorsements.
- Candidates who can’t be endorsed because they aren’t registered as Democrats can still speak as part of the forum.
- The space itself is large enough so that, if you’re a little shy, you don’t have to feel like you’ll stand out by attending.
Candidate Statements
Here are the candidate statements from the ECDC site for the two races I cover in this blog:
- WCCUSD BOE
- Contra Costa County BOE, Area 1 (buried in PDF of last newsletter)
